Spiritual Path Clearings, Issue Spring 1 -- Hello SPRING March 19, 2009 |
Blessings Everyone!Table of Contents1. Spring Equinox and personal awareness 2. Upcoming Events
Spring Equinox and personal awarenessPersonal awareness, what a difficult task. Yet, everyone already is self aware, how is this different?Personal awareness is a spiritual thing. It means that one is aware of things in their life at the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level. OK, so, what in the world is a spiritual level? The spiritual level encompasses one's intuition, lessons, and choices. It also, allows one to step outside of oneself in order to see objectively what is going on in one's life. Many of us have been blessed over time with a connection to a spiritual discipline, like Yoga, Martial arts, Meditation, and Metaphysics, to name a few, that have helped us remain in touch with this spiritual reality. Another way of knowing whether or not one is looking at the world on a spiritual level, is to say one is balanced. The Buddhists say, that this is the path to Enlightenment. Many sites on the internet today are devoted to showing you the way to achieve this elusive quality of enlightenment. What does it mean for us? To achieve one's highest goal or enlightenment - one must first identify it. For this let us look at spring. Go ahead, look outside at the world around you. In my area of the country, (KS), the early daffodils have already bloomed. Their beautiful yellow trumpets are waving in the breeze, (Kansas style - 10 - 15 miles per hr), looking up at the sun and making everything seem cheery. The tulips, naked ladies, and other early flowers are greening and reaching preparing to let their blooms show. How wonderful! Yet, not everything is ready to bloom. The herbs are just starting to green, and some of them are still cold and apparently lifeless. Yet, I know that they will come alive almost like miracles in the next month or so. I think of the natural spirituality paths and the wheel of the year. In winter all is apparently dead, yet in spring it returns. How refreshing. Let us apply this to our own world. The world of self. How many times does it seem that the world will end for us? Eacn setback can have a devastating impact on ourselves, our loved ones, (regardless of the species), and our not so loved ones, You know, the ones we interact with occasionally or even on a daily basis. Does the adage - This too will pass ring a bell? When my teachers and Guru's would use this with me, I sometimes had a very "unappealing" and not so respectful answer - even if I didn't say it. Yet, over time, I realized that just like winter, the trials and tribulations that I went through, and still go through, after all, if I am not growing and stretching myself, why go on, spring does come around. Spring is followed by Summer and all is well. When Fall comes we get to "rest" in our knowledge of a well done Summer. Remembering and incorporating all the lessons of the current cycle. Of course, Winter returns, as do trials, and we start again. I propose, that as the cycle continues, we look at it as a spiral, not a circle. In a spiral we are going up toward enlightenment and even if it feels like we are repeating, we are at a higher level, hence more lessons to learn. After All, Enjoy the Journey.
